Thinking is simply a function of awareness - their awareness is very narrow but not gone. And truely, we do not think for ourselves - our awareness is limited only by the boundaries of our environment and unless you completely isolate yourself, your thoughts can be said to be bounded by the thoughts of those "around" you. We simply need to alter their environment through diversification and education to expand their awareness.
