It sounds like adiplomat would be better off at a different job. I have worked in support for a long time - second level - before there was a help desk, which means that I was the help desk. You need lots of understanding and forgiveness. You have to understand that many people who call you don't want to deal with technology - they have to. Also, you need to be able to forgive people who try to take things out on others that they happen to deal with. Be sympathetic - it must be hard to be as friendless as they must be.
