I'd explain the situation like you did, no emotions just the facts. If he'd not retract the probation he's an awfull manager, a manager always protects his own people and solves conflicts internally preferably face to face with just you. After that I'd advise him to follow a conflict management course and hand in my resignation to his superior. Bye bye helldesk. Matter of principle.
