ok here ya go by Arienadean 2002-09-29 14:43:28
regular phoneline/modem typically 14.4K to 56K if your in north american(if you using ISDN up to 128K). If you are using though a typical north american modem(and please let it not be a winmodem as those have very limited support under linux) and is fairy new. Likely its a 56K/X2 modem. Which will get up to 115Kbps if I remember right. If you are using cable or adsl connect likely it's 2M-4M connect speeds though could be as little as 1M.(speeds are all in k/sec or M/sec)

as for computers I didn't mess with them myself til about 12 or 13. As for my kids... My son started around 2 yrs old on one and was getting into cmos by age 4. He also can handle linux reasonable in the gui.(btw he's mentally challanged and not a savant but can use windows, macOS, and linux just fine) He's 10 now. My daughter started on them at 5 and was using mac/linux/windows before she died.(she was 12)

Oh and I started out on mac and comadore... then went to pc's. I've been on linux since mandrake 6.5... prior to that I did pc's in windows 3x to 9x. And also I did the original macOS on 2e's...
