| Actually, I have uptime of weeks with Win2k (have to shut down/reboot due to constant hardware tweaking :D ), and if I wanted I could run Linux as well (waiting for new machine to delve into that area).
So the crash argument is only valid if I install lousy software or misconfigure things, which is also a risk factor on linux or OSX--its not the OS, its the applications and the changes you may make to accomodate them that destabilize the environment.
And the virii/worms/etc is another nonissue, as long as you have common sense. Don't open funky attachments, don't download klez.exe from a website, and keep your virus defs current. No sweat.
And if they ever make something more 1d10t-proof than XP, I'm afraid to consider the magnitude of that "better idiot"
But I can see you're a macfan, so I'm gonna avoid replying again so as to not engage in rabid debate. I've seen enough hard benchmarks to convince me on the state of the hardware as it stands at the moment, but maybe if IBM lands the contract to replace the motorola chips they might have a shot at competing again. Never know. |
