Twilight Zone---another review by Gary_7 2002-09-26 20:11:11
Here's my suggestion for improving the new Twilight Zone: Get rid of Forrest Whitaker. The man doesn't have a single suspensville bone in his body. I'll admit that from last week to this week he dropped some of the Serling manerisms, like the evil half-smile, the standing at an angle to the rest of the scene and the partial squint thing. But he still looks more like a commedian parodying Serling than anything else.

The writing still hasn't improved. Somebody last week said that the twilight zone (the original that is) would end on a "gotcha" note. The kind of thing that really knocked the whole story home and made it memorable. The writers still haven't figured out how to do that. Although the second story last nite came close, but I had it figured out long before they gave it away.

I'd still much rather watch the original than the new. They're trying to capture lightning in a bottle and they're missing. Maybe they should just re-air the originals rather than trying to improve on perfection.
