I put up a polite warning to keep things from getting out of hand.
There is nothing wrong with silly and/or immature. I am often guilty of acting that way myself. And if the top level post had been the only time that you did that, I would have probably just moved past it, but you did the same thing several times in that same thread. People who run with expand all suddenly have a bunch of meaningless text to scroll by.
You may not have done it to annoy people (if I thought you had I probably would have moderated), but there is suddenly a group of people who have been inconvenienced and may very well be annoyed. While it stayed on a small scale that's no big deal, I posted the warning (note: warning, not moderation) to keep it from turning into a big deal. I could see the next person thinking they could cut and paste even more dings, and then the reply after that even more. Suddenly, as J.D. said, you end up with a board of ASCII confetti.
I was just asking you to use a modicum of common courtesy. |
