And indeed, for the PO here a monopoly is best. The problem is there are lots of places in this country were delivery services have to be done at loss. Just because somebody live haflway up a mountain is no excuse to not deliver his mail. But I doubt a private company would be willing to take that loss. So if the PO lost all the profitable runs to private companies and kept only the deficit encuring ones our services would soon be very bad indeed. :(
