I was watching the STTNG 1st season dvd set today. Specifically the special features and the character analysis. They interviewed John DeLancie who said that when he first read about Q, he was reminded of a quote about Byron (who this Byron is, he didn't say) "Mad, bad, and dangerous to know." I can't think of a better description of Q. -G7
