I am putting together my own home entertainment system running off of a Win98 PC, that will cheaply integrate CD and MP3 Audio, DVD video, and web browsing (webTV functionality), plus some rudimentary time shifting (PVR) functions. Where I have run up against a wall is with the web browsing. My IR remote is fully programmable, but it can only simulate keypresses and run programs, not move the cursor (plus, I really don't want to more the cursor using arrow buttons). What I'd like to do is find a browser or browser plug-in that will allow be to navigate between links with the remote, like the WebTV browser does. I've looked at the WebTV Viewer, but it doesn't have any full screen options. Basically, what I need is a browser than can be easily navigated with a keyboard, but no mouse. Does anyone have any suggestions? Pressing tab repeadatly to get to the link I want is too cumbersome.
I got a few suggestions late last night, such as using mousekeys, but mousekeys don't work with my remote since holding down a button does not repeadatly press that key, so moving the mouse it quite tiresome. Basically, what I am looking for is something that allows be to go right and left between links (like WebTV does). |
