Dont ever try to use a disk that has been formatted by XP on a non XP system. First XP limits you to an arbitrary size of 32G for fat32 partitions. Herr Gates wants you to use NTFS. I used an 80GB IBM deskstar for some temporary storage on my XP system, then moved the drive to a 98 system, reformatted it and guess what? I could still only make 32G partitions. XP wrote drivers to the disk that prevented DOS format from creating 32+G partitions. I used IBMs utilities to wipe the drive, and I could create larger partitions, but scandisk couldnt read the last sector so wouldnt install win98. I'm hoping that linux will have no troubles with it.
