If you hate the new Start menu with a passion (like me), right click on it and select properties. Select "Classic Start Menu." One XP problem solved. To kill the window grouping (which I found annoying after a day), keep the start menu properties open. Click on the "Taskbar" tab. Then Unclick "Group similar taskbar buttons." You can also mess around with some of the other options to make it look better. As for the crashing, that I can't help you with.
