X on an old notebook? by andrej2002-08-28 01:21:12
  I ran X on a very simular notebook, by pecosdave 2002-08-28 04:35:25
I think it was a P90 but damn, I didn't have near that much HDD and about the same amount of RAM. It ran beutifully with KDE 1 on RedHat 7.1, and quite honestly I think X is easier to configure on LCD than on a CRT. I just ran it at 16 bpp and stuck with the native 800x600. The only reason I don't use it anymore is I bought my Dell Inspiron (Celeron 450). My old Toshiba Satellite Pro now runs Win95 and belongs to a teenaged girl. The only thing I could say negative about the picture was that the Toshiba was manufactured right before LCDs got good. The picture was grainy and blurry looking but that was good quality for that era, it looked the same on Win95 C.
