Simple network question by jdoverholt 2002-08-28 01:57:33
I notice the collision light on my hub is quite active during samba file transfers from my win98 pc to the linux server, and thought to check the collision counter on the card on the server, and during transfers it runs about 100collisions/second. This seems a little unreasonable to me.

I's wondering if this is normal, and just a sad biproduct of using a hub, or if something can be done to fix it a bit? It's a 10baseT hub and nothing in the network setup is out of the ordinary.

Note: I'm still pouting because my friend needed to take his 10/100 switch back, and the speed difference is quite noticable.
