I use Zone Alarm myself and am mostly satisfied. I just take his complaint as I do any other here - with a grain of salt. I don't dismiss it, as there may be some truth, but I haven't seen any backup of that by other posters, so I don't believe it either. Thus, I honestly don't view that as defamation. If you are from Zone Alarm or a related concern, I think that might weaken a potential libel/slander case. But I do appreciate your interest in asserting its usefulness.
