I guess I didn't explain myself very well. Basically I would like to see a responsible society in which we didn't have to use an arbirtary age. Since as far as I can tell that is not possible, I believe that setting an best case scenario age at which most members of society are responsible enough is the only option. I think the age should be 18 for all things except driving which should be 16 and run as a graduated system.

Graduated licensing basically means that after you pass your first test you are allowed to drive with a great number of restrictions, and then after your second test (which you have to wait several months to take) some of those restrictions are lifted, and so on until you are considered a completely unrestricted driver (I think there are three or four tests here in Ontario)
