| It gets you thrown into the same group, no matter how different the reasons. One of the main beliefs is that only a certain number of people are going to Heaven. 40,000, or 140,000, or something. It's not very many. It's sort of a contest, because it'll be the 140,000 who brought the most people to Jesus, hence all the door to door-ing. The JW church is almost cult-like, in that they believe that those within the church are the only ones who are godly, and the rest of the world is evil - apparently it doesn't matter if you've found God through some other religion, if you don't belong to The Church, it doesn't count. It's really quite bizarre, but there are worse churches out there. |
