I heard something last night I want to confirm, and it fits this topic of personal responsibility/liability pretty well.

In Japan, a number of people commit suicide by jumping in front of trains at the last moment. This part is true, I know.

Here's the thing I tend to doubt: the train company goes after the family of the "victim" for lost income caused by the delay and cleanup.

Is this true? If so, what do typical Japanese citizens think about that?
