At least to the car locking situation anyway. I always use the remote locking button on the key. Since the car will not allow you to lock the driver's door while it is open, it would take some ingenuity to actually lock the car keys inside using the remote...

House keys are a different matter, but since they're on the same ring I've always got them on me.
