Diamonds, synthetic and otherwise, are just carbon, and there is plenty of that in the ashes left after cremation. The carbon has to be purified no matter what the source is, so why not use cremains? It probably isn't any more difficult to purify than other sources, and it lets them charge natural diamond prices for synthetic diamonds. What I can't understand is why anyone would want to do it.
