with many of the pro arguments is that a lot of you don't realize that American teenagers are not generally as mature as teeneagers in other countries. Blame it on whatever you won't, but kids in this country are allowed to be kids a lot longer. This is probably why there are so many irresponsible adults in this country too.
I really noticed this when I went to Latin America and Eastern Europe. Yeah, they can drink at whatever age, but they also are a lot more grown up. I also noticed that many of the 20 year olds were alcoholics. This may or may not have something to do with the kids drinking at bars when they were in their teens.
When I was in Ukraine, I was told if I catch a stomach bug I can either live with it or do what the Ukranians do: drink a fifth of straight vodka with salt. I couldn't help but think that it might jut kill what was in my stomach, if it didn't kill me first! |
