I think age doen't matter so much. Rather body size and maturity.
I know a 14 year old who can hold liqour better than my mother. Why? He has an extra 200 pounds and 3 feet in hieght that she doesn't.
Sure, she might be more responsible about drinking, but that doesn't really matter. Some people responsibly drink until they're so drunk they irresponsibly drive... into your daughters car as she's on her way to graduation.
With sheer mass, a person probebly wouldn't get drunk, unless they had a near limitless supply of alcohol. At 14, such a thing is hard to come by. Even without age restraints, there's still the cash flow issue.
On hte other hand, if a 14 year old is responsible enoughot go out and mow yards all day so he can afford a 6 pack, they're probebly mature enough to drink it.
So how does this all come into play? Common sence, from liqour dealers and parents.
Naturally, nobody has common sence. But that aside, government should step aside from it =P |
