I have noticed lately that there has been a certain person making a regular and blatant attempt (usually successfull too!) of making their name the first to appear on the board each and every day. This sort of meaningless competition is completely pointless, and probably destructive to the community. I say it should be ruthlessly stamped out.
I refer, of course, to a person I'll call "UpStart" (you all know who I mean!) whao almost always post a blatantly pre-made post each day which never has anything whatsoever to do with the strip called "Question Of The Day". He or She has also been doubling eir chances lately with another post that doesn't even seem to vary in content at all from day to day! Who does he or she think they are!
Equally guilty, although not usually as sucessful, are "Near(ly)" with some trivia rubbish and another contrived thread that relys on others to make it on-topic (I think "Near(ly)" stole this idea from someone else, btw.) and "SalesGame", who always comes in third and can't even spell "Unaverse".
Sadly, quite a lot of people don't seem to realise what is going on, and actually respond to these people who want to be first. Shall we call the "First Posers"? Comeon people - the only way to deal with these people is to ignore them! Give them no response, and hopefully they'll go away! If not, I think it's important to take stronger action - does anyone know who can somehow kill posts on this forum? We should write to them and tell them to disable these accounts or something.
That's my say - I'm sure you all can only agree that this stupid thing has got to stop. |
