I'll be honest with you - I don't know. I'm not nearly familiar enough with the various alternatives for bringing something to national attention "legitimately" to say what other recourse might have gotten the situation the attention he wanted it to have (that is, however, a key phrase - "the attention he wanted it to have"...). If he came up to me on the street I'd say something lame like "write your Congressman", I'm sure.
I just can't agree with hurting your kid - and given the extremely low benefit to her of the result [even if he's successful] vs. what she has to go through I just can't see it as not hurting her - over what amounts to a political question that your average elementary school child has never even considered. In light of the recent developments I think my criticism may well apply to her mother, too, though it'll be interesting to watch, I guess.
But that's not to say I don't see your point. I just don't like her parents very much.
So. Safe to do the hand-shaking? Neither of us seems to feel that the other is a total idiot, which is more than many ever achieve on this board. ;-) |
