Yes, several years. They spend 5 years in the seminary, often with the last year being placed in a church somewhere. After that, they are ordained as transitory deacons (as opposed to permanent deacons, who will never rise to the position of priest, usually due to them being married, or not wanting to), and after a year as a deacon, are ordained as priests.
At least, that is usually the case. Technically, those times can be shorter or longer, but most of the time that's what it turns out to be.
