My next door neighbor's kid beats his dog. I think this is lousy, as I really like dogs.

This does not make me "right" if I go steal the dog by force and keep him at my house, rather than talk to the kid's parents or call the humane society or what have you.

Yes, that was a silly example, and not well thought out. The point is that just because there's a problem doesn't imply that every way of going about fixing the problem is right.
