Doubleplusungood and not entirely true, to boot. Was I brainwashed to be a good lil' citizen at my public high school? You bet I was. But I also got to read and discuss some damn fine literature (such as our beloved Orwell) - certainly not all of it pro-American - and learned a fair amount of the upper-level basic subjects to boot. I was certainly the only person in my introductory college calculus course who already knew most of the material, anyhow. Point is, there's still good education to be had in the public system if you have teachers who care. Sure, the history classes are skewed no matter how you look at it. Probably polisci too. ;-) But aside from that, it's not all that bad a deal.
