No, this is NOT a good idea.
And I can tell you why.
DOS attacks do more than just damage the target.
They affect the network between you and your target.
They affect the ISP's who provide the services.
They affect the Tier 1s who have to figure out why all of a sudden their hardware is being overloaded.

No, definately NOT a good idea.
That's just stooping down lower than the spammers.
Personally, I like things like Spamcop, and going to the spammer's ISP directly and filing complaints.
There are far better ways to react to spam than selfish destructive behaviour.
