was likened to promising with your fingers crossed Now THAT is a good argument to making that kind of change. And just what is a court supposed to do with people who refuse to put their hand on a 'Christian' bible? I won't do it because it's not my faith. A judge gave me a dirty look when I did that one time not too long ago. When I explained that any oath I took with my hand on that bible would have no value because I didn't hold that book in my faith, he smiled. I think he did realize what I was trying to say and that I was respecting his court by not taking an oath that I could not hold to. He allowed me to just raise my hand and left out the 'god' part. See, it can happen.
