| I wasn't very big or strong physically. What I was/am is willing to react with extreme and vicious prejudice. Stone Cold Steve flattens me, he'd better kill me because I would gnaw off his tender parts. Still would, but not for myself so much as for my family. Hurt my kids and I will not rest until "the agony" (to steal a phrase from The Princess Bride). I know this isn't a normal reaction but it's part of my psyche. Most people have some sort of governor on response. Some don't. Possibly since I grew up with enough of the people in my HS (even though I didn't go to public school until 8th) they knew how whacked I could react from my less restrained youth. Also, this isn't something a person could choose to do after they have been in a social group for a while. You enter with it. It's like a drop dead gorgeous woman walking down the street. Often, if you look closely, you'll see that she isn't any prettier than anyone else, but she knows that she is gorgeous in the fiber of her being and she exudes that confidence and charisma outward. |
