they just are really desperate or at wits end to help their kids... however some buy into whatever line they've read on the net or in a book without checking it thoroughly. Other methods are valid but they aren't fully clueful on some aspects of what they are about. The gf/cf aka gluten and casien free diet is commonly given to those with celiac disease. Something that has autistic like features or may co exist with duel diagnosis. Gf/CF diet can also be given to those with known wheat, egg, and milk allergies. Casien is a primary protien in cows milk. I'm allergic to cows milk but to a lesser protien. Heating milk in my case or processed milk products are fine and cause no adverse reactions. I'm allergic to wheat which does contain gluten. To some lesser extent a few other items also contain gluten. It can be tricky to avoid. For instance gluten is added to rye bread often otherwise it goes into a hard lump. Anyways I had many specific tests done as a child including the celiac disease one. I was negative. It was argued the test gives false negatives. True many medical tests can give false negatives. However I tried the diet and plain and simple it didn't work and though I have some like things to people with celiac they also have some like things to me because I'm autistic... Anyways... uggg... some people get so fantatic they put people off with their insistance it must work. Then some parents try darn hard and it doesn't and they feel they've failed or done it wrong or if they just tried harder. :( Some people just gotta clue in what works for one person doesn't work for another to each their own ... as is most things in life... and we all change with time.
