it is one of the most used languages in the world. Used by some of the biggest institutions for some of the most important applications. If all COBOL programs instantly disapeared the world would be in utter chaos. It's also one of the easiest languages to learn. Making COBOL programmers some of the easiest to train, therefore COBOL is an asset to business in that way too.
