By deity, how can anyone claim the scholarly evaluation of religion is an endorsement? If the University thinks a subject is essential, it has the right to force you to learn it, even if you don't believe it. Wasn't that a key point during the creation vs. evolution debate? I'm sorry you have to step out of your cave and at least pretend to set aside your pre-conceived notions to attend this particular place of higher learning, but you're just going to have to deal with it. And of course, if you don't agree with the viewpoint and facts, you can come prepared with your own sources. I know, how dare I sugest one should evaluate their own beliefs in an objective and scholarly manner. |
