Subject: [PBML] *OFFTOPIC* Is there a Computer Network consultant in the house?
Sorry for the very offtopic post, but PBML is the busiest IT-related e-mail group I'm on.
I received a rather unusual response to a job application I filled out for a Customer Service position, asking for my help setting up a computer network and while I have some skills in the area, they probably will not suffice for what they need.
Are there any professional I.T. consultants on the list looking for projects in southern Oregon / northern California (the company is in Tulelake, California but they also list themselves for Klamath Falls, Oregon)? If so, e-mail me and if my current contacts (only 2) don't show any interest in the project (one of them is on an extended vacation and I haven't the foggiest clue when he'll be back, the other one may not be possible or practical for him), I'd be happy to do a referral for, say, 5% of the profit (after whatever tax and expenses are considered) for the whole project (or, alternatively, I can offer grunt labor assistance -- running cables, setting up workstations, servers, networks, etc. for $8/hour).
I'm not sure what exactly the company that contacted me is looking for, all they said was: "We are in the process of getting bids on establishing a network system for our company, and your qualifications looked like a possibility."
It was not a random spam I received, but a response to a resume and job application I'd filled out and mailed (via U.S. mail) several weeks ago.
Again, apologies to PBML for this spam, but I figured there's gotta be a couple I.T. gurus on a Perl list hungry for some work, heh. :)
