| They're not inflammatory for the sake of being inflammatory. It's my gosh-darned honest opinion, and if it starts a flamewar, so be it, and if not, that's fine as well. I think I'd know if I were trolling, and when I have, I've never said I wasn't. But how many times can you read "M$ sucks! No security! Use Linux! Microshaft Internet Exploder stinks! Use Opera!" and then seeing each post like that treated as if it were both the funniest joke ever and the holiest thing ever spoken without the whole thing growing tiresome? It's M$ here and M$ there (the lot of you forgetting, it seems, that $ isn't a proper letter and to use it as such is no better than the oft-bemoaned leetspeek) with the random Microshaft and Microsuck thrown in once in a while, and it all reeks of uncreativity and redundancy. Or you could replace Microsoft with RIAA or the MPAA and get the same effect, over and over and over and over again, with everyone but a scant few reciting the same things and those few, when voicing their opinion, being called nasty names or labelled a troll and then called nasty names. For flavor, toss in corporations or capitalism in general now and then, but keep the same complaints. Tell me, how is that different from Slashdot? Like a broken record, this place. Why, then, do I stick around if so much of the current community's antics irks me so? For spite. :) |
