to buy the hardware or the software. What, do you think the open source community is just going to shrug and say "Well guys, thats it. We now have to start developing stuff to accomodate this new chip?" The faster we get away from this antiquated 16/32 bit architecture the better. Hardware manufacturers are going to make what their customers want, not what Microsoft want and even the best companies can drop the ball (i.e. Intel's P4 processor). IMHO Microsoft are shooting themselves in the foot because their customers are going to be forced to replace software AND hardware with the next windows release. Many aint gonna want to do that.
