Feel free to ignore this if you want...

Like (I suspect) a lot of other folk on this board I know where you're coming from.

My experience at school was very similar, except that I was at boarding school. So I could n't even get away from it in the evenings & at weekends.

The only way I could escape was to work. So I passed all my exams and went to university. It was only when I got there that I met people who were my emotional & intellectual equals.

I was, though, still too immature in some ways and ended up losing the girl I loved to someone I trusted, which made me so depressed that I trashed my final year and scuppered any chance of the career I had wanted.

Which is why I've been doing IT Support for the last 7 years.

What can we learn from this?

1/ If it doesn't kill you, it WILL make you stronger. Life is a learning experience and the more mistakes you make early on the better equipped you will be later.

2/ NEVER give up. If you were reading this board a month ago, you will have seen me announce my marriage. There really *is* hope.

3/ Be your own person. Trying to 'fit in' NEVER works because you'll get caught out one day. Be yourself, live your own life. People worth knowing will respect you for it & s*rew the rest of them.

4/ And most important: Get your sleep! If you can reconcile yourself to teh first 3 then you'll sleep better & that will improve things all by itself...

Good luck!
