This is one of the few points that even the little thieves on this forum aren't arguing - that whatever you own copyright to is yours to do with as you please, and that the _format_ known as MP3 is not inherently legal/illegal/anything - it's just a format. Now, if somebody owns the copyright to that format, then I suppose you could say it was legal/illegal to use. The real bone of contention is when the folk who crave something don't want to pay for it, and then they pat themselves on the back self-righteously after stealing it. (Actually, those are the only ones who bug me - the thieves who freely admit to their thievery are not pathetic, just "outlaws").
