And, while we are on the topics of nitpicking...
Stef is wrong to claim that any day is 'shorter' than any other. If we go by any clock we use, ALL days are 24 hours long. Therefore, no day is any shorter than any other.

Now, if he was refering to the day of the Winter Solstice, that would be the day of 'least light'. But, scientists have shown that the earth is acutally CLOSER to the sun on that day than on the Summer Solstice.

Ok, I'll stop now before I start rambling on and on and on....
