Actually, it depends on the copyright on the object/data you are copying. For example, with Micro*beep*(I really can't say it) Windows CD's, the official ones, if you ever saw them, you can't even make one copy. It says that on the CD's themselves, the crystal case and the box.
With music, most of the time it is actually legal to make one copy, except if the company/owner of the copyright has forbidden that. (of course you don't want to play the original CD until it falls apart, so you play a copy CD *if you're smart*)...
Well, that raps it up for Acceptable Use Rights ;)
ps. GNU license RULES !!! (the FreeBSD license lets you use the code in your programs even if you use it commercially. GNU license only lets you use the code if you make a 'freeware' program. Of course, you have to credit the original author in both cases) |
