the way we were trying is this: we installed the software to server (thanks to admin). We have a drive mapped to the share on that server where the software was loaded. On our own workstation, we went thru Explorer to the mapped drive (in this case J: which was mapped to the correct share on the server) and attempted to run the program. when we did, we got the above message about javaw.exe. when we went to the console (c: on the server itself) and ran the program, it went just fine. so the problem is definitly with the drive mappings. it is also now apparent to me that this program was never designed to be a true client-server application. we were just using the old version as if it were. *sigh*
