The _LEAST_ we could do is do it right when we DO butt in.
Course, many Americans don't realize that we have treaties with other countries. Some of which read something not unsimilar to "In the event a military foriegn to <insert country here> and the United States should enter our borders, the United States agrees to help resolve the issue." which in some cases appearently means armed conflict.
I think war is nothing more than a chicken fight anyways. To quote George Carlin (GOD that's scary), only FYOS'ed.. "Mine is bigger than yours!" "Yeah? Well mine can do more damage!" Even the bombs and missles and bullets are shaped like giant phalic symbols.
There ARE times when we have no choice but to fight. In a perfect world, the only use for gunpowder would be fireworks (which is now becomming obsolete!). However, in reality, no matter how great OUR morals and ethics are, there always will be someone with lower ones. Therefore, someone else will attack US eventually! In that instance, where they bring military force agaisnt us, we should begin fighting. If for no other reason, to protect our own citizens from foriegn powers. But, if they haven't attacked us, we should NOT be fighting.
Course, that's not how it works. THAT is too intelligent. What the government sees, and any other entity that sees statistics, is this: In time of peace, economy levels or even slumps, or occasionally dies. In time of war, economy usually booms. In time of peace, technology hums along at a walk. In time of war, technology runs like a beast hunting down it's dinner.
Why is that? Government buys things. Buys nifty doodads which funds the growth and development of technology.. Buys vehicals which dumps money into economy.. Buys food, same thing. Clothing, medical supplies...
*sigh*
I'll never be a politician. I'm to smart =P Or am I just too American and _think_ I'm smart? |
