Or movies ("Snatch") to get the real feel. One of my favorites from back in the day was "Duchess of Duke Street". Since everyone was dressed fairly nicely, one needed to infer from their accents their classes. I tell you it was thrilling to be able to figure out a character before that person's past was declared in the dialogue. I had to watch "Snatch" twice to get some of what they were saying. Brad Pitt totally acted his considerably cute (albeit ill-clad) butt off with that Pikey accent. Did you notice the homogeneity of accents in "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone"? Except for the older actors, the kids pretty much sounded similar. I guess it's like American kids with TV. They all talk the same and use the same slang, rancid little blighters that they are.
