The ROUTER would connect to the internet via modem, and iptables or ipchains would proceed to masquerade the connection.

This applies to analog 56k modems, ISDN modems, cable modems, DSL modems, T1 Fractionals, Full T1's, T3's, OC3, OC12's, and OC45's, and whichever else I missed.

With the root password to the router box, you WOuLD have 100% control. :P
