what someone from Washington is called? Probably not. We have enough trouble knowing the facts about our own country, it becomes hard for us to try and grasp other cultures as well. You have to admit, some of our states are the size of entire nations. Most Europeans look at Americans and see Americans. Americans, however, see manny smaller sub-groups. Likewise when most Americans look at Europeans, they see Europeans, and not the subgroups (though usually we are at least able to distinguish between British, French, German, and Slavic)
