When I was applying for college I needed something to put in the major blank. Since I had been playing with computers since my parents TI, and later the 286, I decided more or less on a whim to put CS in the blank. I had only done minor simple programs in BASIC & QBasic, I had never really thought about it as a career. I figured I could always change my major later, when I decided what I actually wanted to do. Then I took CS 102 my first semester, I skipped 90% of the class and still passed with an extremely easy A. The rest is history.
