      I use Starband by slacktime 2002-07-22 14:12:47
And the nice thing is that it supports an RJ45 TCP/IP connection direct to the satellite modem. (Direcwav only supports a USB connection which requires additional drivers) Unfortunately Starband does not "officially" support networking, but they do refer you to Winproxy by Ositis to set up a network. Also they insist that you cannot have the modem direct to a router or hub. You have to hook your modem to a windows based system. (I use a Win2K box) The reason for this is that their link optimization software and modem management software requires a windows GUI. I get good speeds with the following setup.

Dish <--> Modem <--> Win2K Router <--> switch <--> LAN Cloud

The Win2k Router is basic Win2000 workstation with Winproxy installed as a service. It has no keyboard, mouse, or monitor, allows no incoming connections. I get good throughput on downloads, but Starband in their residential service does not support any servers on your LAN. All in all I've been fairly happy with it.
