That's the good thing about a Montessori school. by bugarup 2002-07-22 12:36:50
If you don't want to hear other students painfully spelling out words and sentences, you can do something else instead. I remember being quite fond of maths in first grade. It was interesting to be able to play with numbers for a change.

In third grade, though, my parents decided that the taunting was too much for me. It'd never get me out of my "shell of books", as they called it. They were worried about my steadily deteriorating social skills. So they sent me to a state-run school instead.

It was a shock. All that homework being forced on me every day, instead of a few sheets of work we could choose ourselves from big folders every week. And I couldn't get out of German classes anymore. I had to listen to those stuttering voices chopping up the words every day. My teachers were beginning to suspect I had a brain injury, the way I kept gripping my skull and moaning.
