One thing that we did at my work was to set up a few demo boxes for something we knew would be cheaper and more reliable in Linux than the W2K solution they talking heads were considering. When we showed them how reliable and inexpensive it could be using Linux, they went for it. Now we are in the final stages of testing a new mail server that is a Linux High Availabilty Cluster. The cost? Less than 1/2 what it would have cost to do using any other solution.
