you don't - or at least I didn't. i just went to target and bought an auto timer (like you'd use to turn your lights on and off when you're on vacation). Plug the fan into that, tell it to turn off about an hour and a half before I need to be at work (or less if i showered that night), and doze off. Works like a charm :) night!
